Bracebridge seeking consultation for master plan

BRACEBRIDGE, ON-The Town of Bracebridge is seeking consultation for the new master plan project.

On December 9th, the town released its request and overview for the new project which seeks someone who will help develop the strategic objectives before starting the plan.

This new project seeks to enhance the use of targeted priority sites like the Bracebridge Bay, Woodchester Villa, Bracebridge Memorial Arena lands and RONA lands to further complement the existing amenities and strengthen the downtown experience.

The town also wants this project to connect the downtown, the surrounding area and the urban waterfront by implementing a creative visual and functioning elements that will bring more business to the downtown.

In an interview with the MyMuskokaNow.com newsroom, Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith said that he is very excited about this project. “This is a great chance to evolve and enhance what Bracebridge already is.”

Smith went on to say that for years, the town has had its back to the water but this new plan will hopefully change that. “I would like to see a new park and revitalize the waterfront area, just because it is a really nice spot,” said Smith.

The plan will be used by staff to prepare their annual business plans and budgets.

The town is asking for the consultant’s plan to be S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-framed), be rooted in today’s and tomorrow’s reality and to recognize the trend and emerging realities.

The town is asking those who submit their proposals to consider how their ideas will benefit those who live and work in the downtown area.

The proposed budget for this project will be up to $80,000, with a portion going to expenses, project promotion and collateral development.

The town will be accepting proposal submissions electronically until January 3rd, 2020 and can be done so here.
