More details emerging about Handlen’s activities in Minden

Turns out Garry Taylor Handlen, the man charged in the murder of two BC girls, wasn’t a stranger in Minden. An employee at a Minden retail store says Handlen was a regular client and was in the store the very week he was arrested. He said Handlen had a good reputation as a handyman and that he was always pleasant to work with. He said Handlen’s clients were mostly single women who never had a bad word to say about him. Reports say Handlen was living on Anson Street for the past ten years. A source told Moose FM that Handlen had at least been coming into the store for the past ten years and had always seemed trustworthy. “I hate to say this,” he said, “but after getting to know him, I would have said he could babysit my daughter or watch my house. He was that trustworthy.” The body of 11 year old Kathryn-Mary Herbert was found in 1975 in an underdeveloped area in Abbotsford two months after she went missing. 12 year old Monica Jack went missing in 1978 and her body wasn’t found until 17 years later in a rural area north of Merritt, BC. Handlen was arrested on November 28th and will appear in Abbotsford court on Monday.
