Bracebridge submits application for funding for community centre

BRACEBRIDGE, ON-Bracebridge has submitted their form for funding to build a new multi-use community centre (MUCC).

On November 13th, the town submitted their application under the Community, Culture and Recreations Stream, of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program for the construction for the MUCC.

According to the press release, the application notes over $49.1 million is possible project expenses and includes a request for $36 million from the upper levels of government. If the applications passes, the town could receive $19.6 million from the federal government and $16.4 million from the provincial government.

Through many years of work, Bracebridge has completed their plan to replace the towns 70-year-old Memorial Arena and the 111-year old public library and put in a new community hub which will feature a multi-use field house that supports a variety of community uses.

This new field house will sport a fully accessible gymnasium that can be used by businesses and other groups for events.
