COTTAGE COUNTRY, ON- Don’t expect a break in the snowy, rainy weather we’ve been getting anytime soon.

According to Sherry Williams, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, the forecast from Parry Sound to Haliburton over the next week and a half is holding more snow, more rain, and more grey skies.

For this evening and into tomorrow morning, more snow squalls are expected, with potential for five to ten centimetres of snow. The band of squalls is running from north to south across the region.

Saturday could be a bit clearer, but another weather system is expected to come on Sunday that will bring a mix of snow and rain.

As of this report, a weather advisory has been issued for the following areas:

  • Bracebridge – Gravenhurst
  • Huntsville – Baysville
  • Port Carling – Port Severn
  • Town of Parry Sound – Rosseau – Killbear Park

“Now would be an excellent time to putting your snow tires on ahead of this afternoon and this weekend and the coming weeks,” said Williams.

“We are seeing temperatures below normal right now, so now is an excellent time for snow tires and to take caution while driving.”

Snowfall amounts over the weekend are not predicted at the moment, but Williams expected it to be accumulating instead of melting away.
