UPDATE: Police have said the man was 68 Richard Victor Saucier of Algonquin Highlands.
MINDEN, ON- The death of a missing person in Algonquin Highlands isn’t believed to be criminal in nature.
That’s according to the OPP, who supplied a brief update today on the incident.
Last Wednesday, the police service had announced that a missing person had been found dead in Kushog Lake around 8:30 a.m. That was after officers had been called out to search for the person the night before.
They had made unsuccessful patrols along Highway 35 and the surrounding area. The next morning, the missing person was found deceased in their truck, which was in Kushog Lake off of the highway. They had been found by a family member.
According to the OPP, the investigation into the incident is continuing, with the file now in the hands of collision investigators. No other vehicle is believed to be involved in how the truck ended up in the lake, and the intention of the missing person is unknown.
What occurred is believed to be non-criminal.
The deceased was transported to the Ontario Forensic Pathology Unit in Torontofor a post mortem examination.
