Significant snow expected tonight: Environment Canada

COTTAGE COUNTRY, ON- Snow is coming tonight.

Environment Canada has updated their special weather statement for the areas running from Parry Sound to Huntsville and Baysville, warning about the first significant snowfall.

Rain is falling today, with amounts expected of 15 to 25 millimetres bringing a total amount of 20 to 40 millimetres across the region by the evening.

The rain should change to snow overnight, and taper off on Friday. Snowfall amount of five to ten centimetres are expected by Friday morning, with a focus on the areas inland from the Great Lakes and on higher ground.

Residents should be ready for poor winter driving conditions.

Environment Canada will continue to monitor the situation and issue alerts as needed.
