A Huntsville cottager gets The Order of Canada

A Huntsville cottager has been awarded The Order of Canada. Ross Porter is the president and CEO of a jazz radio station in Toronto. He was given the Order at a ceremony in Ottawa last month. Porter says he wishes his dad was still around to see it.

Porter was one of 42 recipients this year. Porter says he feels really lucky to be able to combine the things he loves.

Porter was given the honour for his commitment to broadcasting for the past 35 years and the global arts community. He tells us why he thinks he made the cut.

Porter says he was really honoured to be with people who’ve made a great contribution to Canada. As to what advice he would give others who are trying to make a difference, he says everything is an experience.
