Voters should be prepared to cast ballots Monday

COTTAGE COUNTRY, ON – The federal election is just days away and residents can’t vote unless they know where to go.

Polling stations can be found on the Elections Canada website by inputting an area code.

The easiest way to get into the booth and vote is with government-issued photo ID, like a driver’s license or passport.

If someone can’t provide those, they can still vote by bringing two other pieces of identification, like a voter information card and bank statement. Other forms can be found on the list of accepted ID to prove your identity section of the site.

Anyone who can’t provide identification still has a chance to cast their ballot.  They will have to declare their identity and address in writing, then have someone assigned to the same polling station vouch for them in person. The voucher must be able to prove their identity and address.

Everyone eligible to voter should have received a Voter Information Card by now. Anyone who hasn’t should check if they’re registered on the Elections Canada website. Directions will be given if someone isn’t registered and they can then print a registration certificate.
