Oxtongue Lake roads restricted to locals only during leafer season

OXTONGUE LAKE, ON- Heads up, seekers of fall colours: Oxtongue Lake is closed.

Annual road restrictions for the hamlet have been put in place to keep leaf-seekers headed towards Algonquin Park. The small community is situated near the park’s west gate, close to Oxtongue River – Ragged Falls Provincial Park.

According to the Township of Algonquin Highlands, the area is home to a few resorts and multiple private cottages. There is no park, no village square, no shopping outlets and no restaurants, and no public spaces to view the fall colours.

In order to prevent confusion and keep visitors headed towards Algonquin, the dead end roads in the area will be restricted to local traffic only until Monday, October 16th.
