There is a printer scam going around

Local businesses have been receiving calls from so-called customer service asking for the serial number of your printer. The scammers then try to convince you to make orders on toners at a really high rate. OPP Constable Lynda Cranney says they often get complaints about these sorts of calls. She says you should always ask questions, like what company they represent, their names and phone numbers. She also says if they ask for a credit card over the phone, it’s most likely a scam. Should you get any calls like this, you should call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
