LCBO looking for applications for “convenience outlets”

TORONTO, ON- If you want to have a chance to sell alcohol in Ontario, now may be your chance.

This week, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) announced the opening up of the Request for Proposal process for “Convenience Outlets”, which have been laid out across Ontario.

The outlets are intended for small communities across the province, and were previously announced back in June.

The following locations in Vista Radio’s Cottage Country cluster have been included in the announcement for those outlets:

  • Milford Bay
  • Minett
  • Utterson
  • Nobel
  • Emsdale
  • Rolphton
  • Wolseley Bay
  • Sprucedale
  • Irondale
  • Norland
  • Harcourt
  • Windermere

The LCBO is aiming to have 200 of the outlets open by next spring. At least one has opened up in cottage country so far, over at Fort Irwin on Haliburton Lake.

According to the announcement, retailers in 302 communities interested in becoming authorized to sell beverage alcohol can access the RFP and download an application package here.

All business applicants that meet the requirements for an authorization will be entered in a lottery for each community. Those selected will be eligible for Convenience Outlet authorizations.
