Gravenhurst passes 2019 development fee schedule

GRAVENHURST, ON – The Town of Gravenhurst has served notice to residents that a new development charges by-law has been voted into place.

At a council meeting on August 13th council approved an amendment to an existing by-law that keeps the amounts charged to developers the same as in previous years. The Town is inviting any interested parties who wish to challenge the by-law to do prior to the September 23rd deadline.

Forms can be retrieved from Local Planning Appeal Tribunal to access required forms and applicable Provincial fees.

The new development bylaw came into effect on August 20th. These are levies typically applied to new development that is used to pay for related increased capital costs related to the provision of services such as library, parks and recreation, general government, municipal parking, fire protection, public works and roads, and various and sundry other services.

Charges for a dwelling such as detached homes will have a $1700 per unit charge, while units such as townhomes come in a $1645 per unit.

Those building at a hunting camp would pay a fee of $863. Mobile home development has a higher price tag of $1254.
