LAKE OF BAYS, ON- Lake of Bays has a new council member.
According to an announcement from the township, council held a special meeting this morning at the Dwight council chambers, to appoint someone to fill the vacant seat of the councillor for Ridout.
The position had been empty since the resignation of Penny McEachern. McEachern unfortunately had to step down this year due to health reasons.
The candidate chosen was George Anderson, one of four people to submit their names to council. The other three candidates were Karen Brigden, Martin Mann, and Marie Poirier.
“Mayor, Council and staff would like to welcome Mr. Anderson, the successful candidate appointed Ridout Councillor for the remainder of the current term of Council (2018-2022) to the Township of Lake of Bays,” read the announcement from the township.
The term of the position will run from today to November of 2022.
