Bracebridge car dealer out thousands due to window vandalism

Vandals are causing thousands of dollars in damage around Bracebridge.

Two car dealers and a carpet company have had windshields and windows shot out with pellet guns over the past month.

General Manager Jon Fraser of Cavalcade Ford has had enough and is working through social media to try and find out who is behind the multiple attacks.

He told the MyMuskokaNow.com newsroom that the attacks started mid-July. They have had to replace multiple windshields on pre-owned vehicles and reported the incidents to police, but after discovering another instance this morning the car seller is hoping to get some information through their own methods.

Six vehicles have had windshield or body damage so far along with a show window that has been replaced.

“We just replaced the showroom window, that cost $1,200,” Fraser revealed.

“We are installing additional cameras,” Fraser explained. He shared other methods being taken but MyMuskokaNow.com will not reveal those to preserve the security of the operation.

“We called the OPP and they showed up and reviewed our (video),” he said. “We have a good camera system but we were unable to see any vehicles driving by or when the damage happened.”

Greavette Chevrolet confirmed that vandalism had occurred but no dollar amount of the damage was shared.

Fraser is asking anyone with information to call Bracebridge OPP 705-645-2211 or Crime Stoppers at (705) 726-2237.
