Toronto man named as deceased Peninsula Lake swimmer

HUNTSVILLE, ON- The identity of the man pulled from Peninsula Lake yesterday afternoon has been released by police.

According to multiple reports, the man was 56 year old Martin Scholz of Toronto. He was found in the lake by police divers.

Police had been searching the area for the man after he and his son were separated from their boat on the lake on Monday evening.

The boy’s mother had been in the boat while the father and son went for a swim, and the vessel floated away when the wind picked up.

The mother was unable to restart the boat, and called 911 for help.

The boy was found on Monday evening, and taken to hospital as a precaution. He has been reported to be uninjured.

Scholz was found the following day.
