Bracebridge to get four temporary rainbow crosswalks

BRACEBRIDGE, ON- Muskoka is going to get more colourful this weekend.

According to an announcement from Muskoka Pride, Bracebridge will be getting four temporary rainbow crosswalks on Sunday, which will be painted in the early morning hours.

The walks will be installed at four entrances into Memorial Park. The announcement indicated that Muskoka Pride has been working with town staff and local artists in Bracebridge for the past three months to make the crosswalks happen.

The cost of putting in the temporary crosswalks is being taken care of entirely through donations of time and materials, at no cost to Bracebridge taxpayers.

“These crosswalks will be using the original Pride flag (which had 8 colours – including pink and indigo),” read the announcement.

“The paint and process are very eco-friendly, and are using 100 per cent donated materials and time. This is truly a grassroots, community-based initiative.”

The group is hopeful that Muskoka residents will come out and celebrate with them on Sunday, and take photos with the crosswalks.

“We really are PAINTING the town Rainbow!”, their announcement said.
