BRACEBRIDGE, ON- Police in Bracebridge are investigating after a man suffered serious injuries this morning.

According to a news release from the detachment, an assault occurred on Wellington Street North, shortly after midnight. A man from Bracebridge suffered serious injuries in the incident, and located by passerby.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, and remains in serious but stable condition.

Heavy police presence was seen outside a home on the road today, along with a forensics van.

The suspect is now in custody, and police are saying there is no concern for public safety.

A publication ban has been put in place regarding evidence in the case. The suspect will be back in court on Friday in Bracebridge for a bail hearing.
