Huntsville's new men’s shelter causes a stir with some neighbours

A group of Huntsville residents near the location of the new men’s shelter are speaking out. On Monday, Don Brandle brought a petition before council with almost 40 signatures. He says the residents are not against having a men’s shelter in Huntsville.

Other concerns include the safety of the area residents, which consists of families with children, the elderly, retired and single women. Brandle says he is working on a deputation to present before the new council at the next regular meeting with possibly more signatures.

The men’s shelter is associated with The Table Soup Kitchen Foundation. It’s is located at 9 Hanes Street next to the Food Bank. The Table’s CEO Heather Berg says they will not being giving any comment at this time.
