Local food co-op works towards opening a grocery store in Huntsville

Huntsville will soon be getting a grocery store filled with locally grown products. The Muskoka North Good Food Co-op (MNGFC) is currently working on raising funds and applying for grants to make this happen. General Manager Kelli Ebbs says the store will be right off Highway 11 near Rolston Home Hardeware.

The store will also have a locally inspired café and restaurant. Ebbs says they hope to open the store by summer 2015.

Ebbs says you don’t need to be a member to shop at this grocery store. But, a membership would gives you ownership. For about two years, MNGFC has been trying to find ways to provide good and safe food for residents in our community. Ebbs says the one thing in the world that binds people together is food.

At the moment, locally-grown products are available at farmers markets a few months out of the year or at specialty shops across Parry Sound-Muskoka. Click here for more information and to get updates on the Muskoka North Good Food Co-op.
