Up to $500K available to builders of affordable housing in District

BRACEBRIDGE, ON – Public money for builders may be available for affordable housing projects.

The District of Muskoka has released an Expression of Interest package which could include up to $551,300 for non-profit, municipal and co-operative development organizations in Muskoka.

The District is administering the Rental Housing Component of the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative (“OPHI”) on behalf of the Province as it applies to the District.

The funding can be used to offset the costs of building qualifying projects that create affordable housing.

While private builders do not qualify for this funding, other money may be available through the District’s Affordable Housing Projects.

The OPHI is one of a number of different stimulus programs created to increase available housing for the most vulnerable citizens in the province.
