Daytime burning banned in Muskoka as forest fire danger set to High

MUSKOKA, ON- The risk of forest fire is on the rise in Muskoka.

According to a notice from the Muskoka Association of Fire Chiefs, the rating means extreme caution must be taken with all open flames. Small fires are permitted in most rural areas of the region, but no daytime burning is allowed.

Anyone having a fire must have adequate tools and water to put the fire out if the need arises, and must be with their fire at all times.

Residents can check with their local bylaw offices for outdoor burning regulations in their communities.
