HUNTSVILLE, ON- The risk of fire in Muskoka is on the rise.
According to a notice sent out by Mike Vadlja, the fire prevention officer for the Town of Huntsville, the fire rating for the region has been set to moderate. That’s one step above low, and two below high and extreme.
Daytime burning is not permitted, though small fires are permitted in most areas throughout the region.
“You must have adequate tools and water to extinguish the fire if the need arises and you must be with your fire at all times,” read the notice.
“Consult with your local Fire Department for outdoor burning regulations in your municipality.”
There is a chance of rain heading into the end of the week in the forecast, which could have an impact in the fire risk.
