THIS JUST IN: Swift River Energy Ltd granted land use permit at Bala Falls

Things are moving ahead for Swift River Energy Ltd at Bala Falls. The Moose has learned the company now has a land use permit for the Crown land where they plan to build their controversial hydro station and for Margaret Burgess Park as well. This will allow them to put up fencing and signage at the two locations, but in the case of the park, they will have to notify the MNR before they do so. The MNR’s Jolanta Kowalski says Swift River now needs their Lakes and Rivers Improvement Act application approved – If that application is approved Swift River would have MNR approval to proceed with construction.
