Driver airlifted to Toronto hospital with serious injuries; Woman charged with cocaine possession

MUSKOKA, ON – A driver was left with life-altering injuries after crashing into a tree over the weekend.

Bracebridge OPP responded to a report of a collision on Manitoba Street around 9 p.m. Saturday night. Muskoka EMS and Bracebridge Fire also reported to the scene.

According to a release from police, witnesses said a vehicle crashed into a tree and the driver was trapped inside. Firefighters were able to get the 49-year-old Caledon man out and paramedics transported him to a local hospital.

The man was then airlifted to a Toronto hospital with serious and life-altering injuries.

Officers said the area was closed for several hours and the investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information about is asked to call OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Elsewhere, a driver was arrested for possessing cocaine after being pulled over for running a stop sign.

Officers were on general patrol in Gravenhurst on June 18. They saw a car roll through a stop sign and pulled the vehicle over.

While speaking with the female driver, police noticed cannabis within reach of her. Officers searched the 28-year-old and found she was in possession of cocaine and was driving while prohibited.

The Gravenhurst woman is facing several charges and is scheduled to appear in court on July 16, 2019.
