Two survivors in floatplane crash on Lake Rosseau

LAKE ROSSEAU, ON –  A floatplane has crashed on Tobin Island on Lake Rosseau.

The two people on the plane managed to get themselves out of the aircraft prior to emergency services arriving.

According to witnesses the pilot walked himself into a waiting ambulance in Windermere after being transported by private boat. The passenger was uninjured and taken to a nearby cottage for a time.

Township of Muskoka Lakes Fire Department received a call about the crash at 3:24pm.

The department responded with two vessels to ferry paramedics and the other to get directly to the crash scene near Snowshoe Bay.

Despite extensive damage to the plane there was no evidence of any fuel leaks and there was no fire.

Transport Canada is investigating the incident and there is no information on the pilot or passenger at this time.
