Hot team and bad weather create super event

A confluence of bad weather and a good team have created a special event.

Following last weekend’s outdoor viewing of the Raptors vs Golden State game four where fans took in the game in the parking area of the Griffin Gastro Pub, tonight’s game is being held at Memorial Arena.

The move will afford triple the fan space up to 1,400 people and multiple vendors will be running bar service for the crowd.

Owner of the Griffin Jeb Corbeil said it has been an amazing amount of cooperation with the town, management at the arena and companies like Muskoka Brewing, Lake of Bays Brewing and Georgian Bay Spirits.

“So we are going to have three screens, a full AV setup, we are hoping to play some live music before the game and at half-time,” he explained.

Banff Ice Vodka is also producing a signature Jurassic Park cocktail that has Gatorade as an active ingredient.

Corbeil said when the Raptors began their playoff run nearly two months ago he had given some thought to doing a special event, but the viewing party in the arena is next level.

“We have a great events team with our business and we love doing this kind of stuff and it was a great fit,” he said. “Now that we have the arena on board I think it is going to be better. God forbid there is a game seven we will be doing it at the arena again.”

There is no cost to go to the game at Memorial Arena and doors open at 7:00pm with tip-off at 9:00pm.
