Gravenhurst is gearing up to send one of its own off to the Paralympic Games in Sochi. The Gravenhurst Helps Gas-Up Graeme group and the Town are hosting a celebration on February 15th to send off Graeme Murray, who is a defenceman on Canada’s National Sledge Hockey Team. The celebration kicks off at noon at the Opera House with speeches from Murray and Deputy Mayor Jeff Watson. At 1pm, everyone’s invited to the Oar & Paddle for snacks, hot chocolate, autographs and a pit fire. Everyone, including kids, can also play street hockey with Murray. The main street will be closed between 2 and 4pm for this event. The Paralympic gold medalist heads to Sochi February 27th.
