MNR says Flood Outlook is in effect for the District

The Ministry of Natural Resources is telling area residents a Flood Outlook is in effect for all watersheds within the District. Water levels and flows in local lakes and rivers have been higher than what is normally expected or experienced at this time of year due to rainfall amounts received over recent
months.

Water levels and flows are expected to rise by early next week as a result of forcasted
rainfall, above freezing air temperatures and melting of the existing snow pack. The amount
of runoff into local waterbodies and impact on water levels and flows will depend on the
actual amount of rainfall received and extent of snow pack melt.

Residents affected by high water conditions in the past should take necessary action to
secure any vulnerable property in close proximity to rivers and lakes and closely monitor
developing conditions over the next few days. People are asked to exercise caution and
ensure they, their children and pets stay away from fast moving rivers and streams.
