News Lockdown at Beaver Creek SHARE ON: Patrick Grapes, staff Tuesday May. 7th, 2019 The entrance to Beaver Creek. (Doug Crosse, MyMuskokaNow.com staff) Beaver Creek’s medium-security unit is under lockdown. It was put in place at 10:05pm last night so the prison’s staff can do an “exceptional search.” The prison says the “search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates.” Normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so but, in the meantime, visits have been suspended. The lockdown comes two days after Beaver Creek staff prevented a package full of contraband from getting into the prison. That package included marijuana, cell phones, and tobacco worth a total of roughly $58,436.
