Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare continues work on the future of our hospitals even though a single site options in Port Sydney has been taken off the table. MAHC CEO Natalie Bubela says the District of Muskoka had restrictions to municipal servicing.

The District’s restrictions weren’t the only reason, a single site wasn’t a good option. Bubela says the cost is too high.

Meantime, there were other options being looked at, which include continuing the two acute care site model or making one an ambulatory site and the other an acute care site. A steering committee is looking at a new model that blends the two options.

The steering committee will develop a recommendation in the next two months before presenting it to the board in the New Year. A public info session is planned to occur soon after the recommendation.
