Rain Fall Warning issued for Muskoka and Parry Sound areas

With up to 35 mm of precipitation expected over the next few days, the area is under a Rain Fall Warning.

Environment Canada issued the alert Tuesday morning for all of Muskoka, the Town of Parry Sound and surrounding areas. The organization expects precipitation to begin as snow or ice pellets in some areas Tuesday night before changing to rain in the morning. About 2 cm of snow is possible and the total rainfall is estimated to be 20 mm to 35 mm by Thursday morning.

Environment Canada warned that localized flooding in low-lying areas is also possible and to keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry extended the flood warning for the area until May 1st.
