The Town of Huntsville has issued an update on the flooding.
The town has received 18 mm of rain at Fire Station 1 as of 1:00pm today. The Big East water levels remain the same, and water levels in the downtown core are holding. Residents can expect water levels and flow to remain high in the Huntsville and Port Sydney area until the recent precipitation and water make its way through our system.
- Residents are advised that properties in flooded areas using well water should assume the water is not safe to drink.
- To assist residents with general inquiries and shelter options the Town of Huntsville has opened a 24-hour Registration and Inquiry Centre at the Canada Summit Centre, 20 Park Drive, 705-789-6421 Ext. 0. The Registration and Inquiry Centre will continue to remain open 24-hours a day until further notice.
- Residents interested in seeking information on the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program should visit the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing website. The Town of Huntsville has provided a brief summary of the Ministry program at Huntsville.ca.
- Federal Government has engaged an emergency local Services Canada team to assist residents or businesses affected by flooding. This service is only to assist with Federal issues (loss of documents, or EI). Please contact Hon. - Town of Huntsville Emergency Control Group and MNRF Officials will continue to monitor conditions and meeting throughout the weekend and updates will be issued as required. Residents are encouraged to monitor local media outlets, the MNRF and the Town of Huntsville websites for updates.

- Public works crews are continuing to repair flooded roads as water recedes. For road closure updates follow us on  Facebook , Twitter, or follow our newsfeed.
- Please note that flooded roads are closed for public safety and it is illegal to drive on a closed road.
The Town continues to remind residents and visitors to stay clear of waterways. Parents and guardians are also advised to remind children to stay clear of open waters, creeks and rivers.
