The Township of Muskoka Lakes has a new Chief Administrative Officer.

Derrick Hammond – New CAO for Township of Muskoka Lakes

Derrick Hammond was named into the role last week. A lifetime Muskoka resident Hammond has worked 25 years in municipal positions including responsibility for planning, land use, continuous improvement and sustainability as well as roles in by-law, and economic development.

With his local background, Hammond is familiar with service delivery in rural and small-town settings.

Mayor Phil Harding was pleased with the appointment. Hammond replaces outgoing CAO Steve McDonald on April 30th.

“The Township of Muskoka Lakes Council was unanimous in the decision to hire Derrick”, states Harding. “His Muskoka roots, experience, and accomplishments over the past decades of employment with various government agencies all combine for a perfect fit to help lead Muskoka Lakes as we set the course for the next 5, 10 and even 20 years.

“Derrick’s team building and innovative approach to business and improvement will quickly be felt by staff and over the coming months/years with the public too.”
