Huntsville launches second annual Express Permit Program

With a short building season in Muskoka, the paperwork involved can slow projects down sometimes.

That is why the Town of Huntsville is launching its second annual Express Permit Extravaganza.

It’s a way to allow builders, residents or authorized agents to connect with staff during extended business hours to ask questions about building permits.

Deputy Chief Building Inspector Amanda Ferrante says the express version of the permit helps everyone.

“The summer season is a busy building time for residents and businesses in our area. By having extended hours in May and an express five-day permit issuance, we hope to ease the building process for everyone and continue to provide superior services,” said Ferrante.

There are three separate dates people can submit a permit application with all supporting documents to potentially receive a final permit in the five-day window.

Permits submitted on Wednesday, May 1st, May 8th, and May 15th can expect the five-day express permit.

Permits are required for any construction that exceeds 10 square metres.

The following types of construction qualify for the Express Permit.
