Bracebridge names new Public Works Director

The Town of Bracebridge has announced its new Director of Public Works.

Geoffrey Carleton takes over the role at the end of April when current Director Walt Schmid retires. Schmid’s career spans 30 years including seven within his current role with Bracebridge.

Mayor Graydon Smith welcomes Carleton to the new role.

“I am very pleased to have Geoff join the Town in this senior leadership role,” said Smith. “His management experience with the County of Simcoe and his previous positions with the District Municipality of Muskoka and the Town of Gravenhurst have positioned him well to guide the Town’s Public Works Department.”

Carleton comes to Bracebridge following stints with the District of Muskoka, Town of Gravenhurst and most recently the County of Simcoe where he served as the transportation manager.

“The Town of Bracebridge is moving forward with a strong commitment from Council to deliver on the objectives of the community based strategic plan,” said Carleton. “I look forward to working and contributing alongside the professional and knowledgeable staff at the town to achieve these objectives.”

Carleton resides in Orillia with his wife Roxanne, and 2 children.
