Gravenhurst man on finding missing kidnap victim

A report from 680 News has detailed when a Gravenhurst man first saw a 22-year-old kidnap victim last night.

Wanzheu Lu was seen by the unidentified man around 9:00pm last night.

The man’s dog first detected the young Chinese student who was in the shadows on the street. When Lu spoke, the man went down the driveway to investigate.

“[Lu] had a dark hoodie on that had (duct) tape on it,” the man said.“He was looking quite rattled (and) super upset, which I totally understand.”

The resident also revealed that Lu did not have much recall of how he ended up in Gravenhurst and where he was held.

The man said he was aware of the kidnapping story from hearing about it on local radio.

“I was taken aback by it, but I just did what I had to do,” he said. “It definitely was a stroke of luck. I guess he had a guardian angel looking out for him at some point,” the resident said.

York Regional Police are still seeking four suspects in the case. A 35-year-old man arrested earlier in the day on Tuesday was released without charge.

The road where the man was found is still closed off to the public. Doe Lake Road has been closed to all but local traffic since the police first recovered Lu.
