The Special Investigations Unit is looking into an incident that took place in Armour Township.
On March 4th the Almaguin Highlands OPP pulled a vehicle over. This led to both the driver and the passenger being arrested.
While in custody at the Almaguin Highlands detachment in Burk’s Falls the passenger went into “medical distress.” The 54-year-old man, who’s from Armour Township, was taken to the hospital. He passed away there on Friday.
The SIU is a civilian law enforcement agency, independent of the police, that conducts criminal investigations into circumstances involving police and civilians that have resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
