Bracebridge student wins Daniel Keane Entrepreneurial Legacy Award

A 17-year-old Bracebridge student has won an award for Entrepreneurship.

Ceili Minten received the Daniel Keane Award at the recent Gala Business Awards ceremony held at the Bracebridge Sportsplex.

She created a business called Foundations Tutoring Services that offers personalized tutoring sessions for kids from Kindergarten to grade 11.

Minten tailors each lesson to the specific need and learning style of the student.

When she is not running her business Minten is an anti-bullying activist and a leader at her school for ‘Me-to-We’. She leads a number of other wellness initiatives keeping her busy throughout the year.

The Daniel Keane Award, in its eighth year,  was established in 2011 by Lynn Keane and her family to honour the memory of her son, Daniel, whose life ended tragically.  They wanted to recognize his entrepreneurial spirit and interest in giving back to the Muskoka community.

“Our son, Daniel had such an amazing experience starting his summer business ‘Cottage Concierge’ in 2007,” recalls Keane. “For two summers Daniel was able to employ students meet area cottagers and residents, book cottage maintenance projects and truly get involved in the Muskoka community.”
