Intersections getting upgrades for the visually-impaired

The Town of Bracebridge has increased the 2019  budget for accessible pedestrian crossings.

All municipalities in Ontario must complete accessible crossings by 2025.

The upgrades include audible signals and grading for the visually impaired.

At last week’s council meeting the budget was increased by $44,600 to $144,600.

The cost of upgrading a crosswalk ranges from $34,000 to $60,000 each.

Bracebridge has to upgrade the crossings at two spots on Wellington Street, one at Taylor Road at Pine Street and at Manitoba and Ann Street.
