Huntsville council paid $236k in 2018

The pay for Huntsville’s town council was a little less than expected.

Between salary, benefits, and expenses, council cost $236,028 in 2018.  That’s $3,345.37 below what was budgeted for the year.

Council’s remuneration was released last week at the Corporate Services Committee meeting on Thursday. Making the numbers public every year is required by the Ontario Municipal Act. When it came to discretionary spending, the budget was set at $17,000, but actual spending came in at just $7,410.

The highest paid member of council was Mayor Scott Aitchison, coming in at $53,238. Deputy Mayor Karin Terziano was second at $27,705.
