Local athletes bring home medals to Muskoka

Some Canada Winter Games medals made it back to Muskoka.

The event was held in Red Deer, Alberta last week, and two local athletes grabbed silvers, while a third finished just off the podium.

Liam Brearley of Gravenhurst impressed on the snowboard half-pipe, putting together an average of 85.8 points over three runs to take silver.

The colour was silver for Utterson’s Cole Patey, who was on the Ontario men’s hockey team, that lost 4-3 to Quebec in the gold medal final.

Natasia Varieur was just out of bronze contention in biathlon, finishing in fourth place.
