Freezing rain warning for Muskoka and Parry Sound

A freezing rain warning has just been issued for Muskoka and Parry Sound.

This is ahead of expected high winds in excess of 90 km per hour overnight and snow on Sunday.

Environment Canada advises that people should be prepared for adverse weather conditions and to take necessary safety precautions.

The freezing rain could develop today through the late afternoon into the evening hours. The temperature will drop to minus one setting the table for the frozen precipitation.

Sunday will see the temperature rise to plus six.

A westerly wind is expected to develop on Sunday with gusts from 80 to 90 km per hour. Areas closer to Georgian Bay will experience higher sustained wind. The strong winds are expected to continue through Sunday night before finally diminishing on Monday.

Flurries totaling five to 10 cm are possible by Monday morning with the risk of blowing snow quite high.
