Freezing rain, damaging winds and heavy snowfall all expected to hit Muskoka this weekend

Mother Nature may be throwing everything in the winter playbook at Muskoka this weekend.

Environment Canada warns there is a potential for a significant amount of freezing rain to fall Saturday night. And, while the dangerous precipitation is expected to move out of the region by Sunday, there’s still a chance of some more weather-related damage by the afternoon. Meteorologists are predicting wind gusts to get as strong as 100km/h. Heavy snowfall will likely be added to the mix, with up to 10 cm falling by Monday morning.

The weather service is suggesting driving will likely be hazardous throughout the weekend and there is also potential for damage to buildings and hydro lines, causing outages across the district.

The MyMuskokaNow.com Newsroom is tracking this storm and will bring you more details as they become available.
