YWCA Muskoka receives $5,000 for high school Quest programs

It’s a grant that’s going to help more young men in Muskoka. The YWCA of Muskoka received a $5,000 grant from Muskoka Futures and FedNor. YWCA Executive Director Hannah Lin says they are happy to get this funding especially for the Quest high schools boys program. Lin says the funding will help students at Huntsville High, Gravenhurst High, St. Dominic’s and BMLSS learn important life skills like communication, healthy relationships, financial literacy, and how to handle life’s stress and challenges.

The grant covers 42 per cent of the costs. The YWCA, with the help of the high schools, is actively fundraising to come up with the rest. The Rotary Club of Huntsville has already donated to support the cause. The Quest-Life skill program started in 2006 as part of a pilot project for elementary school boys. Over 650 kids participated and have now extended to boys in grades 5 to 10. The high school programs start in early February 2015.
