YMCA’s Fifth Annual Move to Give gets underway

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is gearing up for the fifth annual Move to Give.

The massive fundraiser will take place in eight communities in this region simultaneously, including Gravenhurst and Parry Sound. The YMCA says its goal is to raise over $100,000.

The money goes towards helping people who couldn’t otherwise afford it get access to YMCA programs. The six other communities taking part are Barrie, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Innisfil, Midland, and Orillia.

Those that take part in Move to Give will do something physical, such as running five kilometres, to joining massive indoor cycling sessions, to swimming challenges and lots more. The idea is for participants to challenge themselves while giving back to the community.

To kick-start Move to Give, 80 YMCA child care and school-age programs across Simcoe/Muskoka will host an event on Wednesday, March 6th. Children and their families will collect “change to make change” in their communities and take part in activities that will have them “moving and grooving.”

Move to Give has raised more than $380,000 across Simcoe and Muskoka over the past four years. It’s happening on April 6th this year.  You can get more details on this website.
