At the first Bracebridge Council meeting of the new year, it was a quick session.
A general committee meeting held just prior to the council meeting established a new steering committee for the for the multi-use Community Centre Project.
Three nominations were brought forward for two spots before an amendment allowing three councillors to sit on the committee was introduced.
As a result councillors Mark Quemby, Archie Buie and Chris Wilson were confirmed along with a yet to be confirmed chair of the Public Library and Mayor Graydon Smith.
The Library Board is having a meeting on February 12th to determine its new chairperson.
Deputy Mayor Rick Maloney said having three councillors guiding the massive project is a good move.
“We have been working on this project for a generation, so having three councillors on the committee is a good thing,” said Maloney.
Also, the decision to allow retail pot sales in the town was ratified through confirmation of minutes from the Planning and Development Committee.
