Muskoka Lakes Fire Department saved a local tourism business from going up in flames.
Just after 5:00pm this evening crews responded to activated alarms at the Sherwood Inn resort in Port Carling.
Crews from Station 1 – Foot’s Bay, Station 3 – Bala, and Station 6 – Port Carling arrived to heavy smoke and flames coming from the laundry area.
Firefighters managed to keep the damage limited to just the laundry room with damage estimated around $100,000.

Had the blaze gone unchecked, fire officials say there would have been a $2.5 million loss.
An investigation revealed that oily rags were left in a dryer.
The popular resort on Lake Joseph is open year-round.
