The replacement of the historic bridge connection between Gravenhurst and Severn kicks off next month.
On December 10th Parks Canada will close both sections of the Hamlet Bridge. Both the swing and fixed portions of the bridge will be replaced with replicas, which officials say were selected to preserve the historical look of the area.
The work will likely take eight months, so drivers using Peninsula Road and Canning Road will need to take the detour set up along Highway 11. Parks Canada will provide a specific finish date in the New Year.
