CBS looking to extend the holiday giving spirit to New Year’s Eve in Muskoka

You can give back one last time in 2018 before you prepare to ring in the New Year.

Canadian Blood Services is coming back to Muskoka in December for a New Year’s Eve clinic running in Bracebridge. Territory Manager Elaine St. Pierre says these holiday clinics are important, as CBS actually shuts down collection for one day each year.

“Christmas Day is the only day of the year where Canadian Blood Services does not run a donation event somewhere,” “It’s really important, especially when weather can have an impact, that we collect in those days leading up to the holidays and coming off the holiday season.”

St. Pierre says they’ve already been left a bit short after having to shut down a donor clinic in Huntsville earlier this month when a snowstorm pushed into the district.

“We lost out on 58 units of blood and to put that into perspective, those units could help seven leukaemia patients for a week.”

If you can’t make it to this year-end donation there will be two earlier options to help you get into the giving spirit this holiday season. CBS will be in Gravenhurst on November 27th and will return to Huntsville on December 17th.

To find specific times and locations and to book your donation spot ahead of time go to the CBS website.
