Winter Parking Rules in Effect for Huntsville

Watch where you park now in Huntsville.

With the start of the new month, winter parking regulations have gone into effect.

From now until April 15th, 2019, there is no overnight parking on town roads.

This is to accommodate snow plowing and snow removal work.

Even daytime parking is severely restricted in the winter months. This includes parking at the end of dead-end streets. A car left in that situation is blocking the turnaround for a plow operator.

If your vehicle is in one of these restricted situations it will be towed at your expense.

All that being said, over the first couple of weeks of November or the first major snowfall (whichever comes first) warning tickets will be issued reminding people of the by-law.

Municipal lots can still be used for overnight parking during the winter months. Lots do get cleared in the overnight hours, so you should move your vehicle regularly so it doesn’t get plowed in.

Here are a few things to remember about parking in Huntsville during the winter months:

  • Don’t park on the street overnight
  • Follow parking signage for day-time winter parking
  • Keep a safe distance back from plows and avoid passing
  • Don’t shovel, push or throw snow onto the road or across the road

The town has created a winter parking map and you can also check out their webpage on snow removal.
